Required Material: 2018 International Residential Code (IRC) [2015 IRC is acceptable]

Time: 6pm – 9pm

This 10-week training class will cover material relating the mechanical systems typically seen in residential construction. We will begin by discussing the administration of the code to understand the scope of when the regulations are applicable. We will then proceed to discuss appliances, distribution system, and venting options. Lastly, we will explore relevant provisions from the International Fuel Gas and how they affect construction. Practical application of the code, prescriptive design and common mistakes will be discussed. This class will prepare the student to sit for the 2018 Residential Mechanical Inspector certification exam (M-1).

The course will focus on part V of the building code, chapters 12 thru 24. There will be a short introduction on building codes, administration (chapter 1) and definitions (chapter 2). Please bring your codebook to each class. At the conclusion of the course, you should be prepared to take the residential mechanical exam (M-1).
